EDWINA BROADBENT

Edwina's early childhood was spent in  South America. She studied for a Pre Diploma (Foundation) at Harrow School of Art and for a degree at Middlesex Polytechnic.

After a twenty five year career teaching painting, printmaking and history of art in various schools in Hertfordshire, including Haileybury College. Edwina moved to Cornwall in 2002. She had personal and family connections there and fell in love with the wild, elemental beauty of the land and sea. A place to nurture and inspire her desire to paint.

The ever-changing skies and coastline as well as the individual character and animation of groupings of flowers from her garden often provide the starting point for her expressive paintings brimming with light, colour and movement.

Edwina works mainly in oils but also enjoys the directness and spontaneity of working with coloured inks,

Her work is collected extensively locally and nationally.

She is a member of The St Ives Society of Artists and Penzance Studios as well as a regular participant in Cornwall Open Studios. Her paintings are shown in  The Mariners Gallery, St Ives, The Roundhouse and Capstan Gallery,  Sennen, The Aubergine Gallery, Wimbledon,  The Gallery, Hungerford.
